India chase New Zealand's 198/3 to seal T20I series in Wellington

ICC published a report on India's historic chase against New Zealand in Wellington, which sealed the T20I series. New Zealand scored 198/3 in 20 overs, and India completed the chase with 6 wickets in hand. Abhishek led the response with his fourth T20I hundred, hitting 13 sixes, the most by an Indian batter in a T20I innings.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opened instead of Sanju Samson and made 45 from 19 deliveries; he and Abhishek added 133 runs for the first wicket from 43 deliveries. The two left-handed batters scored 26 runs in the first over, laying the groundwork for their approach. Abhishek said they aimed to build momentum and keep going, while describing Vaibhav's start in the first over as special.

The report called it the second-quickest chase of a target of 190 or more, with 40 deliveries remaining. Estonia's chase of 193 against Cyprus in 2024 remains ahead of it, completed with 42 deliveries to spare.
