New Zealand lose two key bowlers to injury for India T20Is

ICC reported that New Zealand will be without Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry for the remainder of their T20I series against India after both pacers were injured in the second match in Christchurch. Ferguson hurt his calf and is expected to be sidelined for at least a week. Henry injured his quad and needs up to a fortnight to recover.

New Zealand have called up Matt Fisher for the final two T20Is against India. The team hopes Ferguson and Henry will be fit for the ODIs against India, which begin on November 4. New Zealand coach Rob Walter said the team was “gutted” for the injured players, adding that injuries are part of international cricket but do not make missing matches easier.

Walter said Henry had already been due to sit out the remaining T20Is with his summer schedule in mind. He added that New Zealand hoped Henry would still play a key role in the ODIs. The report said both bowlers were injured in the same Christchurch match, while Fisher has been added to the squad for the closing two T20Is of the series.
