Pakistan and Sri Lanka meet in tri-series final as Hesson looks for best form

An ICC report says Pakistan coach Mike Hesson hopes his side is saving its best form for Saturday’s tri-series final against Sri Lanka in Lahore. Pakistan, the hosts, reached the final after winning 3 consecutive matches at the start of the event, although Hesson says the side has yet to produce its best performance.

The report notes that no Pakistan batter is among the event’s top 5 run-scorers, while Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam have yet to make a half-century. Both players have appeared in every match so far, and Hesson described them as two of the greatest players in Pakistan’s history in the top three.

Hesson said Pakistan had played decent cricket without being perfect, and called 3 wins in a row without contributions from some key players a good sign. He said he still did not think the team had played its best game and expected its big players to stand up in big games.
