Saim Ayub released from Pakistan squad for tri-series

Pakistan and opener Saim Ayub mutually agreed to his release from the squad for the ongoing tri-series, with Sahibzada Farhan named as his replacement. Pakistan confirmed that Ayub had been released from the Men’s ODI squad for the remainder of the series.

Ayub had not reached double figures in his 3 innings at the tri-series, despite Pakistan remaining unbeaten and qualifying for Saturday's final. Pakistan said Ayub had discussed his form with coach Mike Hesson, and they decided a short-term return to domestic cricket was in his best interests.

In its release, Pakistan said Ayub requested a return to domestic cricket to work on his batting form and regain confidence after speaking with the head coach. The report was published by the ICC and described Ayub's return to domestic duties amid his recent form slump.
